After an 11-year break, the Tokyo Bay Grand Fireworks Festival is back to celebrate the 80th anniversaries of Chuo City and Minato City. About 12,000 fireworks are launched from the sea off Harumi Pier in Tokyo Port on Saturday 24 October 2026, with the lights of the bay area and its skyscrapers as the backdrop.
Programme (fireworks 5:30–7:00 pm), in six parts. 5:30 pm Opening: two giant "crown" shells launched together, spreading willow-like light across the port. 5:50 pm Anniversary: fireworks shaped like the emblems of Chuo City and Minato City, and the numbers 8 and 0. 5:57 pm Light and sound: fireworks with unusual sounds, such as whistles and loud crackles, ending in a rolling star-mine barrage. 6:13 pm Autumn flowers: traditional chrysanthemum and gold-trail fireworks in gold and orange, plus Edo-period "wabi" fireworks that glow like charcoal embers. 6:41 pm Edo style in the Reiwa era: fifteen master pyrotechnicians from the Japan Pyrotechnic Arts Association each launch an original giant shell (about 300 m across when open). 6:52 pm Grand finale: about 3,000 fireworks.
When: Saturday 24 October 2026. Gates open at 3:30 pm; fireworks 5:30–7:00 pm. Cancelled in severe weather, with no postponement.
Where: the fireworks are watched from 23 ticketed viewing venues in six areas around the launch site, including Harumi Pier and nearby parks, Toyosu, Ariake, Hinode Pier, Shibaura, Takeshiba and Odaiba Seaside Park. Your ticket shows your venue, gate, seat or area, and the nearest station.
Tickets: the festival is ticket-only. You cannot watch from sidewalks or other public areas, and there are no same-day tickets. Tickets are sold through Ticket Pia (general first-come sales until 10:00 am on 24 October while seats remain). For general sale, tickets are ¥5,000 (area A), ¥7,500 (area S) or ¥10,000 (area SS) each, plus handling fees; limits apply per application (2 to 6 tickets, depending on the venue). There are no free tickets, no cancellations or refunds, and tickets may not be resold. Bring your paper ticket: a booking email alone will not get you in.
Getting there: no venue has parking or bicycle parking, so please use public transport. Temporary timetables run on the Toei Subway, Rinkai Line, Yurikamome, Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line, Toei Bus, Tokyo BRT, Harumi Liner and the Odaiba Rainbow Bus (check each operator). Traffic restrictions run from about 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm around the venues, including parts of the Shuto Expressway Harumi and Daiba lines and the walkways of Rainbow Bridge, Harumi Bridge and Toyosu Bridge. It gets very crowded just before the start, and exit after the show is controlled, so allow plenty of time.
On the day: there is no re-entry, so bring food and drink with you. Umbrellas cannot be used while the fireworks are launched, so bring a raincoat. Drones, fire and dangerous items are banned, and so is smoking outside designated areas and claiming a spot early with sheets. In area seating each person has about 1 m by 0.8 m: please stay seated and keep to your own space.
Refunds: if the festival is cancelled before the fireworks start, the ticket price (not the handling fees) is refunded. Once the fireworks have started, a stoppage counts as an interruption and is not refunded.
